We hope you will have a wonderful experience with the DeLano Farms CSA this season. Here are the folks you'll be seeing each week and they are also the people growing your food. Feel free to ask them questions and give them your feedback. They love talking about what they do!
Lucy Reese, Farm Manager
Lucy is originally from Iowa and graduated from Grinnell College with a double major in philosophy and psychology. Before working at DeLano Farms, she worked abroad in Singapore teaching critical thinking skills and then tended transplants at a local Kalamazoo greenhouse. Lucy loves working with vegetables and soil and brings her knowledge and passion for producing the best quality produce possible to DeLano Farms. When she isn’t farming (which is not very often) she enjoys cooking and playing games.
Bronwynn Kelly, Assistant Farm Manager
Bronwynn grew up in Kalamazoo and became interested in farming during her high school job at a local apple orchard. Loving to work outside, she chose to pursue a degree in environmental science at Michigan Tech. She then spent a year in Alaska working with small farms and community gardens. Bronwynn returned to Kalamazoo to join the DeLano farm crew, in pursuit of experiencing the balance between humans and nature
that occurs every day outside in the farm field. She enjoys hiking, walking her dog, and eating in her free time.
Matt Arndt, Crew Member
After practicing horticulture in NW Indiana for the better part of a decade, Matt moved to Kalamazoo in 2012. He apprenticed at a small family farm in Bangor, MI before coming to the KNC. Matt has a keen interest in reviving the farm land at DeLano Farms and producing quality food for his community. Farming is an ongoing learning process for him, so when Matt is not doing the work to grow food, he is usually foraging, cooking, or researching new plant based methods and ideas.
Scott Weber, Farm Education Coordinator
Scott was born and raised in the majestic farm lands of Southeast Wisconsin. His farming heritage drove him to dedicate his life to individual and community wellness. This passion for health led to becoming a Registered Dietitian and eventually to focusing his work on the role of local foods in the wellness picture. Scott has spent years studying Native American food ways and worked with the Huron Potawatomi Tribe before coming to KNC. When he is not busy growing or educating Scott enjoys cooking, brewing herbal ales and enjoying life with his wife and three children. Be sure to make time to enjoy some of Scott's creative and informative demonstrations and programs at the Farm.
Adrianne Schut, Farm Crew
Adrianne is originally from Fennville MI and moved to Kalamazoo 5 years ago to study public relations and non-profit leadership at Western Michigan University. During her time at WMU, she discovered a passion for agriculture and the local food movement which led her to DeLano Farms.
Katie Vasquez, Farm Crew
This is Katie's first season at Delano Farms. She worked previously cultivating urban gardens in Nashville and Memphis before joining the farm crew. Some of her favorite things about the farm are cloudy days and seeing things blossom. She is looking forward to gaining experience to one day tend her own organic garden plot.
