DeLano Farms CSA Shares now Available for the 2012 Season!

Posted 1 years 158 days ago ago by Lisa     0 Comments

Every day we make decisions about the food we eat. A question that comes up often and is quite difficult to answer is "where does our food come from?" For the first time in our history its now the norm for most to have no firm understanding of the source of food. Although Michigan is the second most diverse agricultural state (behind California) you may not have guessed that on a test walk through most supermarkets. This is part of the story of the Delano Farm, about reestablishing the link between you the consumer and us, the farmers and farms, as the food source. It's about taking a closer look, albeit, a longer look, at the food you eat before it even gets to you. What exactly does this mean? What really is this story? Support of the CSA at Delano Farm helps creates that story. We thank you for the past season of growing, our first year of growth. You supported us with your kind words of encouragement, your trust in our ability to feed you (through thick and thin), and your willingness to make a difference.

It doesn't stop with a bag of produce. In order to fully understand this story, to reveal it to others, you should experience it. The CSA is a great way to get a diverse selection of produce through the season. For me as a farmer it is much more than that. Its about reconnection to the individuals in our community, our fellow shareholders, and the farm itself. In our efforts to help you connect the dots and draw a picture worth coloring in, we are planning an outstanding next season. We want to give you reason to come spend time with us at the farm. From having a U-Pick section of seasonal treats to full blown farm tours and yes, even all the way to having a dinner together, as a family. A family of concerned citizens willing to interact with the farm and each other to make it the best it can be. Thank you very much for a marvelous first year and the excitement of yet another. Happy Holidays and a wonderful beginning to the new year from all of us at Delano Farms and Kalamazoo Nature Center.
