Special Programs for Boy and Girl Scouts! 

Let us help you earn badges at the Kalamazoo Nature Center.

Our knowledgeable staff and the many unique resources at the Kalamazoo Nature Center combine to make earning a badge fun and educational. You may join us during one of our special badge days or schedule your own program. See the descriptions below for information on these programs, or call (269) 381-1574 ext. 19.

Cub Scouts Minimize
Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Webelos
 
Saturday, November 10, 2012 (pre-registration required)
Start times: 10:00 am or 1:00 pm. Programs last 1½ to 2 hours. 

Boy Scout
Wolf scouts: Your Living World (not 7d) and Arrow Electives 13d, 14d, 18g
Bear scouts: Sharing Your World with Wildlife and Arrow Elective 12b
Webelos: Geologist Activity Badge and belt loop
Webelos: Naturalist Activity Badge and Wildlife Conservation belt loop
Webelos may register for both programs and bring a sack lunch to eat between the programs.
Please Note: Some Webelo Badges have required posters, drawings or charts which the scouts will complete
at home.

Fees:
• $5.00/scout per program
• 2 Leaders per den are free. A scout who is the only one from his den must be chaperoned and this
chaperone will act as a leader and be admitted free of charge. Because this a cub scout program, we ask
that additional adults and siblings be self guided and pay a reduced rate of $3.50 each.
Your program fee includes KNC admission for the day. Bring a sack lunch, visit the exhibits and go for a
hike!

To register for Special Badge Day Saturdays:
Call 269-381-1574 Ext. 0. Payment is due at the time of registration. The last day for registration is Friday
November 2, 2012 for the November program.
Cancellation Policy:  Full refund of $25 or more if cancelled prior to October 26, 2012 for November program. No refunds after
October 26, 2012.

Saturday, February 2, 2013 (pre-registration required)
Start times: 10:00 am or 1:00 pm. Programs last 1½ to 2 hours.

Daisy, Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts

Sweet Daisies, Sweet Maple Sugar March 9, 2013

(pre-registration required through GSHOM)
Daisies and their families find out how trees make sap, take a hike to the sugar shack to watch maple syrup being made and taste real maple syrup. Earn a special patch. Dress for the weather!  This program ties into the Between Earth and Sky journey. 
Start times: 10:00 am. Daisy programs last 1½ hours.

***Registration for Special girl scout days is through the GSHOM office

Your program fee includes KNC admission for the day. Bring a sack lunch, visit the exhibits and go for a hike!

 

Schedule Your Own Program

You can schedule a badge program for your troop after school, on school holidays, or on select weekends.

 

Choose from the New Badge Programs:
Daisies: Three Cheers for Animals
Brownies: Letterboxing, Hiker, Senses
Juniors: Playing in the Past, Geocache, Animal Habitats

We still offer these badge programs for the following:

Brownie Try-Its (each meet 4 badge requirements)

Fees: 
• $5.00/scout with a minimum of $50.00/program (minimum troop size is 10 scouts)
• Leaders are free, additional adults are $3.50 each
