Wild Child Day Camps

What could be more super than spending all day exploring the coolest parts of the Nature Center like the Gravel Pits, Trout Run Stream, and the Source Pond? Meet new friends and awesome counselors while living out your favorite adventures. Practice outdoor skills; try the challenge course, beginner zip line, and archery. Travel back in time to the DeLano Farms & Homestead and the Pioneer Cabin, create natural art, check-out the swimming hole and our giant Slip N Slide, the Otter Run!

 Wild Child Campouts

Being at home in the woods doesn’t happen overnight—it takes a week at camp! Learn to set up a tent and build safe shelters and fires. Explore the best of camp like archery, swimming, fishing, challenge course and beginner zip line during the day, then discover nature at night and practice awareness and self-reliance on an awesome overnight campout. Pack your bags and get ready to let out the Wild Child!

Wild Child Day Camp Sessions
Session 1: June 18-22  |  Kids in the Wild

 

Survival doesn’t have to be a challenge! Preparation is the key to success. Learn how to pack a bag, use a compass, build a shelter and get started with your best adventure yet.

 

Session 3: July 9-13  |  Working with Wildlife

Go behind the scenes at KNC and beyond and learn what it takes to work with wildlife. Take care of KNC’s exhibit and camp animals and meet LIVE Birds of Prey. Learn from local animal professionals, about the everyday challenges of researching and working with animals.

Session 5:  July 23-27  |  Farmhand Fun

Feeding chickens, grooming goats and tending the garden are all what farm hands do! Get experience helping out on a farm and learn more about the important role that farming plays in our community.

 

Session 7: August 6-10  |  Choose Your Own Adventure

Let’s adventure to high places, take a nice bike ride or paddle around in a canoe to start, then play some new games or maybe lead your favorite hike. Campers will learn to make decisions together as they choose from a menu of daily classic camp options. It’s time to own your summer!

Session 8: August 13-17  |  Wade Right In

 

“Water” you waiting for? Get wet as we learn more about our most precious resource--water. Go fishing, explore the river, study the pond and meet LIVE water creatures.

 

Wild Child Campout Sessions
Session 2: June 25-29  |  Tracking History

It’s time to take a look into the past to see into the future! Start with dinosaurs and a hike to the Gravel Pit and then explore other ancient animals. Follow history’s trail of people working alongside animals and explore what this history means for our future.

 

Session 4: July 16-20   |  Epic Earth

 

Adventure awaits you on a fantasy journey in the magical Eastern Woodland realm. Use your Live Action Role Play and Nature skills to help us save the Earth from those who would choose to destroy it!

 

Session 6: July 30-August 3  |  A Heart for Art

Does nature inspire you? Let KNC be your canvas. If you love to paint, draw, write, play music, or even weave, this is the week for you. Use nature as your guide and your creativity will soar!
