Wild Child Day Camps

What could be more exciting that sending all day exploring the coolest parts of the the Nature Center like our trails and the awesome places that they lead us to. Meet new friends and superb counselors while living out your favorite adventures. Practice  important outdoor skills, and try archery and our beginner zip line. Explore the Delano Homestead side of KNC’s property, discover something new about nature, create art and don't forget about sliding down our gigantic Slip N Slide

 Wild Child Campouts

Can’t get enough of camp? Stay with us overnight! Do your Wild Child thing during the day like outdoor skills, archery and our beginner zip line then on Thursday learn to set up tents, cook over fires and take a night hike--a KNC speciality. It’s a great time with your counselors and a even greater time with your friends. Pack your bags, it’s time to camp!

$270 MEMBER, $295 NON-MEMBER | “WILD CHILD CAMPOUT” RUNS 9 AM–5 PM, MONDAY–FRIDAY. OVERNIGHT CAMPOUT IS THURSDAY NIGHT. TENTS AND 3 MEALS ARE PROVIDED. TENTS ARE SHARED WITH SAME-GENDER CAMPERS ONLY. ​

Wild Child Day Camp Sessions
Session 1: June 17-21 | Knot Your Average Survival Camp

Survival doesn’t have to be a challenge! Preparation is the key to success. Learn how to pack a bag, use a compass, build a shelter, tie knots and get started with your best adventure yet. Put your skills to the test and hike the whole Bluebird Trail!

 

Session 2: June 24-28 | Zoology is a Class Act

There could be 8.7 million species in the world--how do we sort them all? Classification of course! Study different types of animals, starting with our furry educators at KNC to distant creatures out in the wild. Roll logs, sort skulls, and peer through binoculars to find far away friends.

 

Session 4:  July 15- 19 | H2O Overflow

Make waves! It’s time to stir up some fun during water week. Check out our streams, rivers and ponds then play water games and make water art. Visit Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery to learn about the importance of clean water.

Session 6: July 29-August 2 | Outdoor Kitchen

 

Ready to make more than toast? Cook your way through camp! Practice kitchen techniques, learn how to cook outside and spend time in the garden. Join us for a week of food, fun and community. This camp is for everyone. Any dietary restrictions will be accommodated to the best of our ability.

 

Session 8: August 12-16 | H2O Overflow II

So nice we are doing it twice! Make waves! It’s time to stir up some fun during water week. Check out our streams, rivers and ponds then play water games and make water art. Visit Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery to learn about the importance of clean water.

Wild Child Campout Sessions
Session 3: July 8-12 | Naturally Artistic

Art comes in all shapes and forms, so let’s give all of it a try! Sculpt or paint with objects you found outside, turn the landscape upside down or make your own color with natural materials. Work with our Featured Artist, in the Glen Vista Gallery, Pamela Paulsrud, to make something incredible.

Session 5: July 22-26  | Nature Rocks!

Rock out with some of nature's oldest stones.  Travel to our gravel pits and uncover the mysteries of the old earth then run some tests to see which rock is which!  Western Michigan University’s Department of Geological and Environmental Services will join us for some awesome Earth activities!

 

Session 7: August 5-9 | Camp’s Greatest Hits

Run, paddle, fish, hike and more. There are endless possibilities for outdoor activities at camp. Each day pick different activities from a list of options, make up a new game or play some camp classics. Work together to pick your favorite activities, then get out there and have some good ol’ camp fun.
