The Michigan Butterfly Network seeks to assess the changing population status of our state's butterfly species, evaluate the quality of Michigan ecosystems, and engage the Michigan public in significant citizen science research. We are looking for new citizen science volunteers to monitor butterfly routes. This is a two-part training workshop for  participants of the Michigan Butterfly Network. The training workshop is geared toward new participants and those returning for their second or third season as a refresher. Part 1 will be about the protocol, any updates from last year, and an introduction to butterfly identification, and Part 2 will be focused on butterfly identification. During the field day we take our new found butterfly monitoring skills to KNC's Willard Rose Prairie and conduct a census!

All age levels are welcome, but we recommend children have a keen interest in learning about butterflies and survey methods. We have had monitors as young as 7 years old successfully participate in the program.

Cancellation Policy: For cancellation prior to the event's deadline, a $5 processing fee per registrant will be retained by the Kalamazoo Nature Center. Between registration deadline and the day of program, a 25% processing fee per registrant, with a minimum of $5, will be retained by KNC. No refunds the day of event or after.
