Area artists, you are invited to join in the fun by applying to this year's Zugunruhe Art Fair!

(Zoo-gun-roo) : “The migratory drive in animals, especially birds during the normal migration period.” Join us for an exciting new event celebrating the incredible migratory instincts of Michigan birds, bats, and butterflies! Movement is an essential narrative of nature, so come explore fun ways to move at the Kalamazoo ZUGUNRUHE!

We'll have food truck vendors, local artists for a special open air art fair, and tons of activities including musical performances, speakers, activities, bird banding tours, butterfly hikes, live animal programs, and partner programs by Crescendo Academy of Music and Wellspring Dance Company throughout the day! The day will round out at 5 pm with a special Bats & Brews at the Barn! See the entire day's events here...

Artist Guidelines:

Tent and table set up Friday September 6, 3-6 pm, product set up Saturday, September 7, 8–9:30 am. Event begins at 10 am.  All artists/vendors must be set up by 9:30 am. (No exceptions) and stay until the end of the event at 6 pm. Artists are responsible for their own set-up and take-down.

Artists and vendors will have a designated parking area.

Exhibitors are responsible for bringing their own tables and pop-ups/tents. Your exhibit space will be located in the KNC Arboretum, which is outdoors in an open, grassy area. Exhibitors must supply their own displays and table coverings.

There will not be extra storage, so please be prepared to store goods and personal belongings within your space or in your vehicle. 

Artists are responsible for processing their own sales. The Kalamazoo Nature Center does not collect a commission on exhibitors’ sales. Booths must be occupied at all times and must remain open during the entire event. As this is an outdoor event, there is no Wi-Fi available - personal hot spots are recommended. KNC is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.

Event Promotion:
The Kalamazoo Nature Center will promote the event throughout Southwest Michigan. The Kalamazoo Zugunruhe is a fundraising event for KNC. Thank you for supporting the Kalamazoo Nature Center through your participation! 

This open-air show is a non-juried show, and artists will be accepted as space permits. Work must be of the artist’s original concept, design, and execution. Original works utilizing natural and recycled materials are encouraged, and work must be appropriate for all audiences.  Categories may include, but are not limited to, printmaking, painting, photography, fiber arts, art glass, jewelry, ceramics, woodworking, sculpture, fair trade products, and licensed food items. No franchises please.
