Head out on a new trail, try a new art form, and engage in conservation discussions each Thursday at KNC. Rotating programs provide a different perspective each week. Register for programs below, or just drop in!

Spring Hepatica

Great Blazes!

March 2, 16, & 30, April 6 & 20, May 4 & 18, 1-3 pm
Experience the seasonal changes and unique ecology of Southwest Michigan via different trails with KNC Conservation Educator, Kyra Blum. We’ll take trails at a leisurely pace to encourage discovery and conversation.

March 2, 16, 30 we’ll walk a small part of the Beech Maple Trail to the Fern Valley Trail and the Sugar Shack for these maple sugaring-themed hikes to celebrate Maple Sugar Festival.
April 6 we will walk the Beech Maple Trail to check for spring ephemerals. April 20 we will be going around the Habitat Haven Trail to find emerging invasive plant species.
May 4 brings us back to the Habitat Haven Trail to assess how quickly those invasive plants have grown. May 18 we will travel along the Beech Maple Trail to compare and contrast what kind of spring ephemerals we see this time around vs earlier in the season.

Creative Wilderness

March 9, April 13, & May 11, 1-3 pm
Deepen your connection with the natural world through artmaking! Each session will provide tools for developing your creative process in a supportive environment. No prior experience is required! Programs will often include visits from guest artists who will share their work, talk about their own process and help guide artmaking. Spring’s special guest artists include:

In this program, Justin will share some of his work and process. Then participants will have the opportunity to develop their own artistic intuition, exploring both their imaginative wilderness and the surrounding ecosystems of KNC through art making.  Register here >

Meet an ambassador animal, listen to KNC’s podcast, “Off the Trail,” or watch and discuss documentaries. Come for the bird friendly coffee and stay for the camaraderie and meaningful conservation chats.
