Habitat Haven Trail September
Garlic Mustard Games

Garlic Mustard Games
Saturday, May 18, Noon – 3 pm
FREE event!

Join in on some volunteer stewardship this spring by picking garlic mustard right here at KNC! Garlic mustard is a common non-native invasive species that takes over large areas of land thus disrupting once-balanced ecosystems. Get involved and have some fun at the third annual Garlic Mustard Games! Participants will earn the chance to win prizes for picking the most garlic mustard in this friendly competition. Last year’s participants were able to remove over 700 pounds of garlic mustard from KNC grounds in just one afternoon! Let’s see if we can beat last year’s total. Contact Kyra Blum at for questions.

Beaver

Beaver Walk
Thursday, June 20, 4:30-6 pm

Beaver populations are rebounding in Southwest Michigan and across the country. In this program, we’ll invite you into the strange and fascinating world of beaver ecology and the ways in which beavers have shaped the history of the United States. In a hike through the habitat of our very active beaver population, we’ll explore how these toothy denizens are shaping the ecosystem around them and how the Kalamazoo Nature Center is finding ways to live with this keystone species while also protecting surrounding ecosystems. This program will begin at the DeLano Homestead. Please dress for the weather as this program will take place mostly outdoors.
