Preschool Explorers is taking a break until March while the Visitor Center is closed for renovations.
Check back in February for spring programs!

The grounds and trails will remain open for you winter exploration with reduced admission rates.

Preschool Explorers

Tuesdays at 10 am beginning in March (No program April 1)

Come dressed to explore the outdoors while developing early childhood readiness skills. Each week enjoy a new nature inspired program theme with a story, a movement activity and a craft. All programs are completely outdoors and run approximately 45-60 minutes. Geared toward children ages 3-5 years old. Children under age 3 are welcome to register. All children must have an adult in attendance. 

Fee: $7/Member child, $10/Non-Member child, 1 adult included in price. Members receive 30% off programs; log in during registration to receive discount.
Registration: Registration is preferred so we can plan for materials, but day-of program participants are welcome if space is available.
Meet: Visitor Center Classroom
Audience: Preschool-age children and caretakers

March theme: Terrific Trees

– March 18 & 25 (no program March 4 or 11) –

Spring is nearly here, which means trees will begin waking up from their long winter nap. Sap will begin to flow, buds will begin to grow, and leaves will start to unfurl. Join Preschool Explorers in March to look at how terrific trees are. Participants will learn some of some basics of tree identification, how trees help the world around them, and why we should all help protect our trees.

As the weather warms, we begin noticing the return of many of Michigan’s migratory birds. Come out to Preschool Explorers to welcome our feathered friends back to Michigan after their long journeys North.

May theme: Fantastic Flowers

April showers bring May flowers, and for the month of May Preschool Explorers will be diving into all things flowers. Join a KNC educator to learn some beginners plant biology, go on flower ID hikes, and create flower themed crafts in this flower powered month of programming.
