Monarch Tagging
Monarch Tagging with KNC’s Michigan Butterfly Network
Tuesday, September 17, 1-3 pm
Saturday, September 21, 1-3 pm
Every fall, KNC researchers host guided monarch tagging days so that anyone who is interested can join the vital effort to conserve this species. Much of what we have discovered about the remarkable migration of monarchs, including their routes, timing and pace, and rates of mortality throughout their journey have come from these organized tagging efforts. Go on a guided hike through KNC’s Emma Pitcher Prairie with butterfly nets and monarch tags as part of this community science project. Your participation contributes to the 30-year legacy of monarch tagging data and helps inform conservation efforts of this remarkable species.
