Register for Programs & Events

Check out the programs below for all ages! Please check the Plan Your Visit page for details on facility and grounds hours and visiting KNC safely, including capacity limits, social distancing and mask requirements. Check out the Calendar page for a month-by-month view of all KNC programs.

Program Registration: 
To register for programs, please email register@naturecenter.org no later than 4 pm the day before the program. When minimum participation numbers have been reached, a registration link will be sent. Please plan to follow this link to complete the registration process, including acknowledgement of KNC's Participant Expectations.

Program Fees:
Admission is included in each program fee. Financial assistance is available. Email Jen Rice at jrice@naturecenter.org.

Program participant minimums & maximums:
Invite your friends! Participant minimums must be reached to run each KNC program. In addition, program registration will be limited to:
• 10 participants for children only programs 8th grade and younger,
• 15 participants for high school programs,
• 25 participants for adult and family programs.

Weather-related cancellations: Programs will be canceled if the temperature or wind chill goes below 10 degrees and it is dry, or if the temperature is below freezing and it is raining or icy. Please check KNC's website or social media for cancellations prior to coming if the weather is inclement.

Coming Up

For the Birds Coffee Hour

Saturday, January 30, 10 am

Fee: $7/member, $10/non-member.  Admission is included in registration fee.  
Email register@naturecenter.org by no later than Friday, January 20 at noon. See the program registration process above for details.

This coffee hour will be "for the birds"! Come share some coffee with us on the Vista deck while learning about winter bird habits and winter birding from KNC's own bird expert John Brenneman. Learn about how the coffee trade is harmful to bird populations and try some bird-friendly coffee. After the talk, head out to see if you can spot some winter birds on our trails!   Bring your own mug and binoculars, if you have them.  This program is geared toward adults.

Thursday, February 11, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm  

Fee: $10/non-member, $7/member.  Admission is included in registration fee.  
Email register@naturecenter.org by Wednesday, February 10 at 4 pm. This program filled up quickly in the past, so please email early to begin registration! 

Our popular candlelight program returns! On the darkest night of the month, the new moon; we will light one of our trails with luminaries to guide your path. Take a self-guided, ¾-mile hike on a wooded loop through the winter night. 

Start times will be staggered at 30-minute increments throughout the night to encourage physical distancing. Mask wearing is required. Please indicate in your registration email which time you would like: 6:30 pm, 7:00 pm, 7:30 pm, or 8:00 pm. Last hike starts at 8:00 pm. Meet: Arboretum entrance.  

Tuesdays at 10 am

Fee: Non-member $6/child, Member $4/child, adults free. Admission is included in registration fee.

Explore and play with nature as our teacher while developing critical early childhood skills. Geared toward children ages 3-5 years old. Due to COVID precautions, we can only have one adult with each child. Come dressed to explore outdoors! Meet: Arboretum entrance.  

Children under age 3 are welcome and do not have to wear masks. We ask that parents keep children well distanced during movement activities and trail walks for the safety of all participants. A blanket, mat or towel to sit upon is recommended. 

Kids' Night OutKIDS' NIGHT OUT
Fridays, February 12 & March 12, 5:30-7:30 pm

Fee: $25/non-member child, $20/member child, $10/each additional child per family. For ages 5-13.

Taking a break from the busyness of life can be a breath of fresh air. Drop your kids off at KNC and enjoy some time to yourself! KNC will provide outdoor, educational activities, a campfire and s’mores for elementary and middle school-aged children, while you take time for you. Groups will be split by age, and will be kept small to promote a safe experience for all participants.  

Meet: KNC Camp Barn with curbside check-in. Please note: The main gate to KNC closes for the evening at 6:00 pm. The gate will be re-opened just before the end of the program to allow families to pick up participants. ID is required to pick up children.

Register your child for a fun-filled exploration of wildlife care! Assist with the daily tasks of an Animal Caretaker. Must be 8 years old and up to participate; children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult (adult admission included in program fee). Masks are required and COVID safety precautions are observed.
This  two-hour experience includes:  Behind the scenes tour of Animal Care  |  Feeding, cleaning, and watering animals  |  Photo with an animal ambassador
